Currently, Gabby is the only CK&B designer with NKBA accreditation. In fact, in 2017, she was honored with a NKBA 30 under 30 award, which recognizes outstanding professionals who have distinguished themselves in branches of the business from design to marketing, sales to management, construction to product development and more.
All of our designers, however, are extremely qualified. All four CK&B designers are Certified Aging-in-Place Specialists (CAPS) through the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), with a shared passion for helping people remain comfortable and safe in their homes as they age. “Aging-in-place is near and dear to all of our hearts. We make community involvement a priority, and one of the best ways that I can think of to help the community is to offer our design expertise and aging-in-place solutions to our neighbors so they can safely stay in the houses they’ve called home for decades,” Jill McGlaughlin, the owner of CK&B, said.
Jill is also a Certified Green Professional (CGP) through NAHB and can recommend products with green or sustainable designs that use energy and natural resources wisely, as well as manufacturers whose practices are healthy and ecologically friendly. “We try to incorporate green products as much as possible, not only for the sake of the environment, but to help the homeowners save money in the long run,” Jill said. “There are so many things you can do, like choosing cabinets that have been manufactured using environmentally responsible methods and materials, or choosing water and energy-efficient appliances and fixtures. It all adds up in the end!”
SIDEBAR/BOX: Excellence in the Valley
CK&B stands tall when it comes to the expertise of its designers. According to Gabby Koontz, “There aren’t very many designers in the area that are certified, or they might not have their full certification, apart from the designers at CK&B. If you search on Google for a Certified Kitchen Designer, there might be a 60- to 70-mile radius before you find another one.”
CK&B team members have the following designations:
Jill McGlaughlin, Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist
Gabby Koontz, Certified Kitchen Designer and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist
